about
I didn't write this song!
It was written by a very good friend of mine, my musical brother Per Øyvind Johansen. aka Pim.
I take great pleasure in singing songs by people I greatly admire.
I met him when I was 15, we were in 8th grade and had both signed up for a music class. We wanted to play music, we wanted to play in a band. We had both played separately for years, but he could already play rings around my on the guitar, his technique being fr more advanced. Maybe my singing was a little more advanced than his, at that time he was still very shy about singing. Although I remember trying hard to get him to sing. We started writing songs together and in the years to follow we would write many songs.
I consider Crows on the Wire and All knives out to be among the better ones.
This song "Second man on the moon" is my latest singel but it is not a new song to me. In. 2008 Pim recorded his own version with his band Peel and they released it on an excellent EP called "Die in June". A little later I recorded it with a band I was in at that time: called sonic cult". We teamed up with Brian Sperber and we recorded a bunch of songs together. Don't you walk away was one of them, and second man was done around the same time.
So, it has been in my orbit for some time, you could say, and I always felt I should present it to the world, as it fits the classic pop/ rock sound we created for it, and even if it is an older song at has this timeless feel.
What is this song about....I don't know!
But I know what I think about when I sing it and hear it.
To me: this is a song about choosing isolation in stead of community, and how easy it is to make that choice sometimes, and how hard it can be to choose trust, love, care and be in communication with others.
One image that came to mind is being soaked into gaming or internet or tv and let that become an ongoing, ever-increasing part of your life. That is why I used the screens in the artwork.
Check out the song and if you like it please find a way to let me know!
lyrics
Wait for the day
Words of betrayal
Falls on him
House of all fears
Stay there for years
A place for him
Again they hurt
Again they make the marks
Again the little one is carrying on in his heart
So easily done
To be alone
Too far too soon
Second man on the moon
Feels like it's gone
To be the one
Too far too soon
Second man on the moon
Stars in the show
Bugs on the floor
Talk to him, talk to him
The cries are all gone
With all the lights on
Losing him, Losing him
Wait for the day
Words of betrayal

This is My American Revolution. Smitten by sound, haunted by words, I don't believe in guns or violence, but I believe in
the revolving human heart, expressed in songs. Some will call this pop noir, some will call it red wine music. I met you here to tell you this....more
